Project 365 – Day 10 – Cat Vacuum

Gimme Some!

Butters will be your best friend if you eat chips. OK, it doesn’t have to be chips. It can be any type of food. He’ll sit right next to you and wait for crumbs to fall so he can eat it. It works out pretty well for us actually, we don’t have to vacuum or worry about ants!

Tonight Jeff left for a work seminar that is taking place in Sacramento tomorrow. Tomorrow after work i leave for Torie’s Bachelorette party weekend! We won’t see each other until Sunday night… longest we’ve been apart since February.

Project 365 – Day 9 – Ballot

Sample Ballot

Here is Jeff’s sample ballot (and Butters drinking water out of a little dish since he refuses to drink out of his own bowl on the floor).

I didn’t get my absentee ballot in the mail when Jeff did last week. Today Jeff walked next door the Monterey County Election office and inquired about my missing ballot. They said i am not registered as a “permanent absentee voter”. I don’t understand how that happened, since I did receive the last election via mail. So… I have to go to the polls to cast my vote (which I threw out my sample ballot so i don’t know where i need to go), or i guess there is still some time to register to vote by mail. What a process! Why can’t we just vote online? =)

We watched the last presidential debate tonight. I’m glad it was little more heated this time around. I’m excited to cast my vote!

Project 365 – Day 8 – Shoes

Gym Shoes

Here’s a look at my current gym shoes. Its been well over a year now since I bought this pair.. I remember I got them not long after I signed up at 24 Hour Fitness last July. After the year mark, I generally try to buy a new pair, since I work out about 3-4 times a week and “they” say you should replace them at least once a year if not more.

I never really liked these damn Asics shoes. I’ve been an avid Adidas fan since high school, but then I developed a yucky corn on my pinky toe from the pair of shoes before these, and I had to switch brands since most all the Adidas shoes I tried on hit the same spot on my foot.

For a girl who loves shopping, I really despise trying to find new athletic shoes. I guess its the anxiety of finding one that fits ALL of the important  factors of a good shoe. It has to fit right first of all… then, is it the right color? Will the shoelaces stay tied? Will it not get too dirty too fast? How much is it?

I will make it my goal to buy new shoes by the end of the month because everyday I look at my gym bag and tell myself, oh yeah, BUY NEW SHOES!

Project 365 – Day 7 – IHOP

IHOP Breakfast for Dinner

Today is Columbus Day – so Jeff got to stay home from work! I had to go to work and it seemed like the longest day ever since I had a sore throat and a runny nose that I think I got from Jeff earlier in the week. Good grief.

We didn’t  feel like eating leftovers for dinner so we went to IHOP for some yummy pancakes. We were the only ones in there for a while.  Jeff ordered a coffee and I swear he drank the whole pot! I ordered a water — but they were OUT of water. Huh? Yeah… I guess “the pipe” was broken. I’m not sure how they made the coffee or washed the dishes…… but I just ended up getting an apple juice.

Project 365 – Day 6 – Cat of the Yard

Butters in the Patio

Today we had to give Butters his monthly topical flea medicine. We hold him down and squeeze this clear gel onto the his skin behind his head, so he can’t lick it. The medicine does a pretty good job at keeping the fleas away. Whenever we give him the medicine, he gets to hang out with his collar off for the rest of the day.

Butters loves to hang out in our enclosed patio area outside. Check out the unruly weeds that are growing in the cracks of the concrete. We probably should have done some yard work today, but instead we… didn’t.

Condor Classic

Condor Classic Bicycles

Today we volunteered at the 1st annual Condor Classic Bicycle Ride in San Benito County. The race started off at San Juan Oaks Golf Club. Jeff and I were stationed at a pit stop at this historical county park. We didn’t have the time to really explore the park further, but from what we gathered, it was named this because they displayed a bunch of really old farming equipment.

Condor Classic Pit StopCondor Classic Pit Stop

This pit stop was for 40 mile, 100K, and 100 mile rides. We served up some sandwiches, fruit, Gatorade, Fiji water, Nutrigrain bars, crackers, cookies, and pretzels.

Condor ClassicCondor Classic

The park entrance was lacking adequate signage to notify the riders of the pit stop, so Jeff’s main job was to yell and motion to the riders that this was where it was.

FlyCondor Classic

There was this really annoying fly hanging out around the guard rail. He was not afraid of me taking a macro shot of him. Little pest!

I helped out too – mostly out by the curb with Jeff serving as assistant cheerleader, but I also floated around, helping distribute snacks and tell the riders where the restrooms were.

Condor Classic

This is a view from the street into the park area. I like the cliff. This shot was taken by Jeff!

At the end of the day, there was a BBQ lunch at San Juan Oaks. The last time Jeff and I were there, it was our wedding night – nearly months ago now! Brought back some good memories.

We had a nice time volunteering for the ride. Hopefully next year, Jeff and I will be able to participate as riders!

Project 365 – Day 4 – Silent Auction

The Bridge Silent Auction Dinner

What is wrong with this picture?

OK – first, you’d probably say, why the hell is there cheesecake next to rolls? –Correct.

Second, you’d probably ask why there is no one sitting at these seats. –Correct.

Third… yes there is a third. The table number is UGLY! This is such a no-no when you are seating a graphic designer at your table. How hard is it to create a nice table number??? Boring Times New Roman in black on plain white letter paper? Come on. And then make it 10x worse, by not even cutting it evenly??? I just don’t get it. You can’t stick that on a nice table, for everyone to stare at through the whole night. Make something NICER.

So, anyway, the atrocity above is from the Pinnacle Bank table at “The Bridge” Silent Auction Dinner. Sadly, the bank could only fill half of the seats at the table they sponsored. I guess no one was interested in a free dinner! But we were! We did have to sit through a few prayers and weird preaches about “God shutting doors that no man can open.” (I still don’t understand what that means!) But the food was pretty good.

The auction items were kinda lame. It ranged from the typical acrylic paintings to the more unusual “16 hours of carpentry work”. There were jewelry pieces, meals, and tons of gift baskets with needless junk.

So, we didn’t bid on anything. We left when the minister started to claim he was the Richard Simmons of the Church and made us get up and dance to YMCA.

All in all, a good night i guess?

Project 365 – Day 3 – Target Deals

Target Deals!

I LOVE TARGET!

Where else can you find $3 shirts (that actually fit good) and $5 skirts (that are fashionable)??

I usually go to Target about once a week to check out the sale racks. This week they were clearing out all their summer fashion and making way for fall, so it was a jackpot for me!

I got these striped blue crop pants that I have on in the dressing room, and another pair in a khaki color. Those were about $10. I also got a blue ruffled skirt, and a green skirt of the same kind that you can see in the picture. I might give that to my sister Jill for Christmas, but i’m not sure yet.

Other purchases for today: a new black and white purse with outlined star drawings, and some essentials such as cotton swabs, napkins, and a new shower mirror for Jeff.

We needed to buy a fly swatter, but i had no idea where to even start looking for that….so I didn’t get one.

I spend too much money at Target, but I never feel guilty about it. Is that wrong? =] I earn those 10% off coupons really fast, and that’s probably not a good thing since you need to spend $1,000 to get one. I always think they should reward me better for spending so much in so little time, but I guess whatever they are doing is working. They’ve definitely got me.

Project 365 – Day 2 – Online Traffic School

Online Driving School

I got a speeding ticket on August 28 and had to go to traffic school. Luckily, with the invention of the internet, I didn’t have to sit in an 8-hour class on a Saturday to fulfill this requirement. I did my school online, and it only took a couple hours.

Today in the mail I received my certificate which I have to sign and mail “to the court”. The traffic school didn’t tell me what the address is of where i have to mail it to. Lame, I have to look it up?? I guess I could just Google it, thats IS why they invented the internet. Damn…

Project 365 – Day 1 – Dog Toys

Obama and McCain Dog Toys

These presidential candidates are everywhere!!! The news on the TV, the signs in people’s yards, and… at the pet store?!?!

These funny “dog toys” where being marketed as an impulse buys at PetSmart. Looks like a pretty expensive toy. Would you pay $6.99 to see your dog chew up one of these guys?

____

Today in the mail, Jeff received his Official Election Ballot. Not sure where mine is… ? Along with that, came 3 political ads. One on Measure Z (local – tax to fix roads), Proposition 10 (state – solar energy), and Mark Hood for Judge.

Tonight was also the 2nd presidential debate. I only watch bits and parts of it, but overall i feel like they are just saying the same things over and over, but maybe it is because i listen to too much NPR. I pretty much end up getting a whole hour of news radio on my commute to work everyday, not to mention the stuff we watch on CNN and other cable news shows.

I can’t wait for November 4th!
