Costco Deals
I kind of have a love-hate relationship with Costco. Love low prices. Hate storing 50 billion paper towels. Love being able to buy organic products. Hate that they don’t restock them. Love their polish sausages. Hate their flat soda machines.
Tonight i went to this “members-only” store for my usual list of goods – toilet paper, bottled water, ham, cheese, oil to name a few. Ketchup was on my list, and yes, we do need bulk ketchup because i LOVE ketchup. And I love that its Heinz brand Organic, which i don’t see at outside grocery stores. I searched and searched but couldn’t find it! Eventually i saw a stranded one that was dumped on top of a pallet of mayonnaise tubs. Phew! On to my list… Pantene Pro-V Shampoo. Walk… walk… walk… ok… searching… I see Dove, I see Head and Shoulders… no Pantene? Lame, i bought it here last time! Oh well, i settle for Garnier, i’ve used it before and it smells yummy. Plus it’s the official sponsor of American Idol, can’t go wrong there. American Idol and shampoo go hand in hand after all. The label even helps you make the connection — “Sing in the Shower!”
Turbo Kick Rounds
I have a whole collection of Turbo Kick rounds now. I bought the “tool kit” which had a bundle of rounds for a low price, and i also got Round 35 with my certification. I bought 34 last week because I know it so well, it’d be easy for me to teach. And Round 36 just came out this past weekend!! It’s got “Baby Got Back” in it, so old school, but yet so hip.
Maintinence Required
Yet another example of how smart my car is with me.
My Corolla promptly alerts me via a “Main’t Req’d” light when it is time for my oil change. Usually i take it in right away, to get rid of the annoying light, which comes on as soon as it hits 5,000 miles. But i was reading an article in some magazine where it said that you can go a lot farther than what they recommend before getting an oil change, so i’ve let the light stay on a bit longer than i normally do. If i can cut out one oil change per year or what have you, i’ve saved $30! =)
Lemorange?
Our neighbors have a citrus tree and we haven’t quite figured out what the fruit is exactly. We cut one open today and it smelled like a lemon, but tasted sweeter than one. Since it is quite larger than a normal lemon, we concluded it may be a cross of a lemon and an orange, or a weird breed of lemon that we haven’t ever seen or tasted.
Jeff’s Saturday Lunch
I tried to copycat the flatbread appetizer we had at dinner last night. I bought some rosemary flatbread topped it with pear jam, gorgonzola cheese, dried cranberries and candied pecans. I had some tomato bisque soup in the fridge from Safeway and served it with that for Jeff’s lunch. He was impressed and said he liked my version even better than the restaurants. =) What a sweetie.
Whose Live Anyway?
Jeff and I went to an improv comedy show featuring the dudes from “Whose Line is it Anyway?” – minus “the bald guy, the black guy, and the rich guy”. They did a bunch of the same kinds of improv as from the show – like sound effects, songs, posing, etc. We were laughing so much – i don’t know how they come up with stuff so fast in front of a live audience. The house was pretty packed, i’m glad we got to go since we only heard of the show about a week ago.
1 <3 Strawberries
Some random guy came buy the office selling a flat of strawberries. Kathy thought they were $14 bucks and she only had $11 so she asked the office for a buck to buy some together but it turns out it was only $10, so she gave us our money back. But i decided to fold my dollar into a heart and leave it on her desk to thank her.
My Boys
Every night when i come home from the gym, my two boys are waiting for me on their matching rolly chairs. Jeff is playing his game, and Butters is just wakin’ up from his post-dinner nap.
St. Patrick’s Day
Jeff wanted some green beer for St. Patrick’s Day. I also cooked some corned beef in the slow cooker and steamed some cabbage and rice. Oh, we loved it sooo much! I wanted to take a photo of the whole spread but got too excited and ate before i remembered. Mmm, nothin’ like salty beef and green beer to celebrate this mighty holiday.
Chili Mango
This chili mango stuff that Kathy shared with us at work today sure reminds me a lot of Li Hing Mui Mango from Hawaii. This one was more hot instead of salty though. Sure made me miss home!
