Apple Crisp
Jeff and I went over to Markus’ house tonight to catch up on old times. Angie and Ellie went as well. We had some yummy chicken tacos, sweet corn cake, and I brought some Apple Crisp from my Everyday Food magazine.
Weird Exercise Machine
Got some new elliptical machines at the gym this week. I took a peek at them today, and first off i was bewildered by the large foot pads. They seem like they are made for monster feet! Then I couldn’t figure out how to even use it, because when you peddled, it felt like you were moon walking and bouncing all over the place… not a workout, but it was a little amusing. I soon gave up. I’m sure its just a setting or something, but I probably won’t waste my time with it.
It’s April!
Aprils means April Fool’s, April Showers, Tax Time, Easter (this year)… oh but most importantly, our wedding anniversary! Today we booked two nights in an ocean-view room at Carmel Highlands Inn and plan to do a day-hike and treat ourselves to wonderful food and good times ;). We got a “locals getaway” deal that included a low weekend rate and a free bottle of wine! Yippee!
Also today – we finished our taxes! We filed jointly and had to pay a couple hundred — not too bad.
JELL-O!
I have a minor addiction to Jell-O – have since I was a kid. I usually make a batch every weekend and eat it up throughout the week for snacks or dessert. I like putting fruit in it, my favorite being fresh strawberries or mandarin oranges. I usually stockpile this stuff when it goes on sale and I had just used my last box this weekend. Today at Safeway Jell-O went on sale – for this week only! Man, the luck I have! Made my day. Well, Jell-o always makes my day.
Child Hazard – OK for Kitties?
Butters went all berserk all of a sudden today and jumped up on the futon to play with the curtain string. I think he was getting it confused with his hanging mouse toy that looks very similar. Jeff and I got a good laugh out of it.
A Special Edamame
I like finding flaws in nature. As i was eating my leftover edamame from our sushi dinner on Saturday, i noticed this soybean was three sided!
Sunday Tea
Today I was really in the cooking/baking mood and made some yummy sweet chex mix, mandarin orange jello, honey mustard chicken (for dinner), and iced tea for my honey! I saw that Jeff had poured himself some before it was cold, so i took his cup and put it in the freezer for a bit to cool it down quicker. But then i forgot it was in there and when we went to take it out much later, a cool icicle had formed inside the cup! It actually turned out the perfect temperature. =)
Sushi Party
We hosted a sushi party at our house tonight and invited over Kyle & Bonnie and Carrie and Roger. I made Unagi (eel) rolls, California Rolls, Spam Musubis, Edamame (soybeans), and Crab Rangoons with two dipping sauces. One was Chinese hot mustard, and the other was a sauce I made up of soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, sriracha sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and sesame seeds. Mmm, i have to write it down on here so i remember how i made it! It tasted best when you dipped the rangoon in the both sauces! We watched some TV while we noshed on dinner, then played a couple of rounds Cranium which provided some laughs for the night. Dessert was my Mom’s recipe for frozen, minty Mini-Grasshopper Pies! *Sigh* – I love food. Oh, and I also love company! We have awesome friends.
I <3 Spinach
A few years back when there was the e-coli spinach scare, the local farmers where hit pretty hard. So someone came up with the idea to make a cute sticker that says “I <3 SPINACH”. Though its been a while since the outbreak, i still see quite a few of these on car bumpers. This one happens to be on a truck that probably transits produce, but i’ve seen them on all types of cars. I think these stickers are cute! I think Jeff had one but i don’t know what happened to it…
Error X Bazillion!
OK, so i have my share of computer issues at work (PC — all i need to say!) but today was a doo-zee. I was working in Photoshop with my color palette then all of a sudden a bazillion error message pop up like confetti on my screen! Fearing that i’ll lose my work, i try to hit “OK” on every single one of them, only to have it reappear over and over again with the same confetti-like ambush attack. Eventually, i don’t know how, i got it to go away and was able to save my work! Phew!
