Burnt Cheese Lasagna
We made lasagna in a hurry and increased the oven temp to lessen the cooking time, and also added the cheese topping at the beginning – not good ideas. Though it tasted a lot better than it looks!
Red Cross Mail
Jeff got a strange letter in the mail today, that was marked on the envelope from the Monterey/San Benito Red Cross chapter, but the materials on the inside were from a Tulsa Oklahoma chapter of the red cross talking about floods and tornadoes!
My Medicine Cabinet
You know everyone wants to see your medicine cabinet. Well our condo has 3 of them, one in the hall half bath, one at Jeff’s sink and one at my sink. My cabinet has no medicine, though there are some eye drops and eye glass cleaners. Other stuff: hair product, sunscreen, make up remover, and my good ole trusty retainer!!
Peacock Ring Holder
I bought this peacock ring holder from a san francisco store called doe. They sell lots of cutsy jappy things. I wanted to buy a ring holder for the longest time since my mom had one when i was growing up. It is perfect for my color gum hairbands too!
Jury Summons
On Jeff’s birthday, naturally. And also the day we move out of our apartment. And two days before we leave for a 9-day trip to the east coast. THANKS MR. JURY COMMISIONER! Love you too.
Jeff Quits Smoking
Jeff is quitting smoking today after starting more than 15 years ago. He’s tried numerous times — the patch, anti-depression drugs — but i think it is for realz this time. We’re marking a couple of important milestones within the next month, and he would like to do this for himself. 1) He is turning 30, 2) We are buying our first home, 3) We are taking a 9-day trip to NYC to visit family and the city, 4) We might be trying to have kids within the next few years.
Many good reasons, and of course the biggest one would be health! Ladedah, i could go on and on on my soap box but I won’t. Most important, is that i know he is committed as am I to help him through this. Everyone please support Jeff in his journey to quit smoking!
Elli’s is Great
The closest sit-down restaurant to our house is a place called Elli’s. They serve American food, almost like a diner, but it’s a little more fancy than that. It is definitely our go-to restaurant especially since Baker’s Square closed down earlier in the year. Our regular orders consist of me getting the American or French Dip, and Jeff getting a burger and fries with a side salad. Today, i decided to get a Taco Salad (with house-made sour cream!). It was yummy but i do not like how the salad became warm because of the hot chicken and beans – not too pleasurable. Jeff got a Philly Cheesesteak Inferno, which is another one of his regular picks if he doesn’t get a burger. Didn’t look too appealing but must have been good since he ate it all. I was mentioned to Jeff that Elli’s is like a mainland version of Zippy’s because they’ve got everything on their menu. Italian, Mexican, American.. a really really big selection. Nothing is ever too fantastic but definitively has a lot of bases covered when it comes to cuisine.
Fiery Sunset
Lockheed fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains producing some crazy fire clouds, awesome red sunsets, and ashes raining down on our cars.

Shrimp Chips
I have just decided as i am writing this that these are my all time favorite chips! YES! Shrimp flavored is the way to go. Throw in some wasabi and it is absolute bliss. Not to mention MSG! Have memories of eating the regular (non-wasabi) shrimp chips growing up in Hawaii. Jeff hates them (hasn’t tried them i don’t think). MORE FOR ME! I can eat the whole package in one sitting no problem. Well, it is a problem, if i do, calorie wise. Hmm, i love food too much to care. Double workout!
