Talkative Vincent

Vincent had something to say after i fed him lunch yesterday. Then he started acting funny – making weird faces and then kinda starting to cry…. who knows what he was doing.

Here is another video from today crawling around. He was talking during the beginning, then he was quiet and contemplative (actually looked real tired). LOL.

It’s my (29th) birthday!

Mommy's Birthday

I’m turning 29! Oh no! So old! I didn’t even realize this until a coworker asked how old I was turning. Oh well least I still look 15. Jeff got up out of bed early to give me my birthday present in the morning.

Mommy's Birthday

Mommy's Birthday

Some stationary, rubber stamps and pens from morning glory and best of all a cute card that was colored and stickered by Vinny and Dad.

At work, we went out to a Thai restaurant in Moss Landing. Meesha was telling us all of her ghost stories, including a crazy one about a Ouija board and saving someone’s life. LOL, it was entertaining.

Mommy's Birthday Presents

I got lots a great gifts! Popsicle molds and a recipe book, a neat family tree photo frame, workout clothes, kitty kat plate, kangaroo towel, a necklace, a password book,  a flight to hawaii, tupperwares, and lots of cute cards/cash.

Mommy's Bday Card from Becky

Miss Becky made me a card from Vincent. It’s Star from the Goodnight show!

For dinner, we went out to eat sushi at KoKoRos. Vinny was acting kinda crazy cuz it was past his bedtime. But we had a nice time getting out of the house. We swung by Winchell’s for some birthday donuts afterwards.

Donuts

Yum! My favorite is the apple one! Super sweet and bad for you!

Happy Father’s Day

Fathers Day Portraits

Happy Fathers Day to my loving husband Jeff! I bought him a Darth Vadar shirt that said “COOLEST DAD EVER” and in the next line it said “next to Darth Vadar or course”. Vinny got a matching onesie that read “WHO’S YOUR DADDY” Jeff loves Star Wars so I thought it was a great gift. Jeff is always telling me he is worried That when he shows Vinny the Star Wars movies that he will think they are old school and stupid, lol. But I don’t think that will happen – Star Wars is pretty classic right?! We will see I guess.

Hugs for Daddy

Early morning cuddles! Vincent loves his Daddy sooo much! Anytime Dad is carrying him, Vincent takes his arms and flattens them so that he is snuggling up really close to Jeff’s chest. Its funny to watch and when I first noticed him doing this, i thought he was trying to “scratch” his elbows, but now i think he just likes to be close to Dad. He hardly does this with me, but i have seen him do it to our sitter Becky, so that’s interesting!

Presents

Mom (me) and Vinny made Daddy a card for Father’s Day and some Father’s Day Caramel Chocolate! The other card there is from Becky. Earlier i had made plans to make Dad a “candy bar” bouquet that i saw on Pinterest… so i bought the candies at Costco. But Jeff mistakenly saw the candies and wanted to eat them (told him it was for a present) – so i said – if you eat the candies now then i won’t have to make the candy bouquet, ill just show you a picture. LOL. And so Jeff ate the candy bars.

Making Pizza

We planned to do a pizza party for dinner. We made pizza dough early in the afternoon and let it rise on the counter.

Pizza for Papa

Jeff’s favorite toppings are pineapple and pepperroni. I added olives and green onions. Yum! Delish. For dessert we baked some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies courtesy of Tollhouse.

Vincent Learned Peek-a-Boo

I was feeding him breakfast this morning and Vincent started lifting his bib up. So when he pulled it down, i said “PEEK-A-BOO!” and he laughed. He lifted his bib again, and i said “PEEK-A-BOO” again, and he laughed again! Oh this continued about 5 times then i said, i HAVE to video this! Glad i got it! His laugh is just too cute. <3 my little Vinny.

Vincent Self-feeding Pasta

We made Vinny some spiral pasta with beef and red tomato sauce tonight! He made a REAL mess of everything! But he did really well and seemed to like the “table” food.

Eating Pasta

Digging in!

Eating Pasta

Ate it all up! Of course a good amount ended up on the floor, on his lap or in the seat!

A Warm Weekend Worthy of a Wade

Playing in the Kiddie Pool

This weekend was warm – in the 80s (ok so warm for Monterey, right!). We thought it’d be fun to buy a kiddie pool and let Vinny play in it.

Jeff prepped the water while Vinny took his nap. (He actually slept a couple hours!)

Playing in the Kiddie Pool

When he woke up we stripped him naked and plopped him in with some bath toys. I got a new turtle from my trip to Target that morning that putts around in the water. (not pictured…)

Playing in the Kiddie Pool

Vinny loved splashing in the water! I got in there with him, just for fun. Surprisingly he stayed in one spot. I thought he’d try to stand up and go to the edge of the pool but he behaved well.

It was getting cold outside by the time he got in the pool so we didn’t spend long in there.

Bubble Machine

After we toweled off, we played with a new automatic bubble machine that Jeff bought while he was out buying the kiddie pool at Toys R Us.

Smiling of the camera

I took some cute pictures of him. He really loves the camera… (and the camera strap!).

Tunnel

Vinny got real spoiled today because I also bought him a play tunnel and a mega blok play table (Legos for lil ones) He loved all his new toys!

Vinny Visits Monterey Bay Aquarium

Monterey Bay Aquarium

While Christina and her family were visiting us a few weeks ago, she gave us a gift card for a membership to the aquarium! We had actually been talking about getting one, so it was perfect.

Christina's Cards

Christina is so funny, she gave it to us along with three different cards, one for house-warming, one for birth of baby boy, and a first birthday gift! And the best part is, the cards had nothing written in them, so i can re-use them! (LOL!) Thanks Christina! 🙂

Aquarium Passes

We bought two individual memberships, so we can go back at anytime throughout the year. Vincent is under 3 so he is free. Next year we may think of getting the premium membership so we can bring along two guests for free (and they could also go without us for free).

JELLIES!

Wasn’t sure how “into it” Vincent would be, but he actually loved the whole experience. From the glass tanks, to the jellies inside, to the whale replicas hanging from the ceiling. He had a blast!

Jelly Fish

This was our first time checking out the special jelly fish exhibit. I didnt get to spend a lot of time going through it since we had Vinny, but initially i will say i wasnt TOO impressed, i was kind of expecting more jellies, but it was still really cool.

Psychedelic Vinny

The theme of the jelly fish exhibit was a 70s psychedelic feel. They had one of those cameras where it projects your image onto the wall in a kaleidoscope. That was really fun!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

This aquarium is really cool because they have a splash zone section specially for kids. They even have a special infant/toddlers section that Vincent spent a while in. First up was the “kiddie pool” as Dad called it. A little circle area completely padded, with toys at Vincent’s crawling level. There weren’t any other babies in this department… but…

Making friends

The other area, was a water bed kind of area. There where 3 other kids in the area, two older than Vinny, and one other girl about the same age. They had fun staring at each other! Vincent was trying to crawl towards her.

This weekend is “World Oceans Day” so they had special booths out and activities going on. We didn’t really do any of those besides listen to the steel-drum player out in the main entrance area.

Nemo outfit

Normally the splash zone has an area for kids to touch real sea animals but it was all closed for renovations. Vincent’s probably a bit young for it at this point, anyway. They did have a slide and a bunch of theme outfits/costumes to try on. Dad put the Nemo one on, but it was too big and Vinny just wanted to eat it! (Mmm, sushi?)

Crawling around

There are tons of crawl areas for Vinny to explore, but we didn’t go into too many of them. Saving stuff for when we come back later… plus Vinny was getting a bit tired at this point.

Stuffed Turtle

We bought a stuffed turtle at the gift shop to remember our first trip by. Not sure if Vinny will play with it, but he does like stuffed animals and if anything, Dad said we could throw it in his baby gate play area and use it as a pillow or a spotting area for when Vinny falls backwards. Kerplunk!

Daddy Daycare

Daddy Daycare

Our sitter took a two-day vacation (Thursday, Friday) so we had planned it so that Daddy would watch Vinny on Thursday and I would watch him on Friday (taking vacation days from work). But as the date drew closer, i realized i had a big deadline on one of my projects and that i could not possibly miss work. So i asked Becky if her Mom could watch Vincent on Friday, and she said yes. Whoo!

Anyway, Daddy still had to watch Vincent on Thursday — his first time watching him “all day” with no one else around in the house. (!)

Daddy kept me posted at work, with texts and photos, as the day progressed. They started the day off with a trip to McDonalds for some drive-thru coffee. Then they came home, ate breakfast, and went for a walk to visit Dad’s wok. Jeff said the whole office loved Vincent — even though he was groggy from falling asleep on the walk there.

Wendy's Frosty for Dad

Vincent normally takes a long afternoon nap, but sometimes it is hard for us (parents) to get him to take that nap at home. So I wasn’t surprised when Jeff said he had taken no naps the whole day! (But did take mini-snoozers on that walk, and on a car-drive to Wendys [Uh-oh! more fast-food?!? Luckily Vincent only eats home-cooked baby food still!]) LOL.

Melons from the Neighbor Jeff

One of our neighbors, Jeff, stopped by to give us some fresh watermelon and cantelope. Vincent had a taste of watermelon last week when i bought some at the store. He didn’t really like it truthfully. We cut it up in small cubes and he ate a couple of them. The melons were not too much of a hit either.

Sleepy Boy

When i got home from work, Vinny was ready for dinner then bed. When i finished putting him down, Jeff was already passed out on the couch (i took a photo of Daddy too, but i’m not allowed to post)!

Vincent Can Clap His Hands

Vinny all of a sudden learned how to clap! It is not something we have been actively trying to teach him. I think we were more so working on “waving hello” or “waving goodbye”, but in any case, he has learned to clap! Its so cute! Sorry, this video is super long, but he does start to clap pretty much in the beginning. Then he starts to pull himself up on the dining table and get into trouble!

Vincent Can Crawl Like a Big Boy Now

Vincent just started to crawl with his tummy OFF the floor. Previously, he would just do his “army” crawl. I noticed him trying to crawl normally a couple of days ago, but was finally able to catch it on video. He is so curious on everything. Once he see something that catches his eye, he will get a big grin on his face and start moving towards it — pretty fast!

Butters is such a good sport. He won’t move out of the way if Vinny comes towards him. He won’t even really move even when Vincent grabs a fistful of fur or twists his ears. Butters still likes to cuddle with Vinny and I when i feed him in the morning. In fact, Butters is the one who wakes us up the morning with his big MEOW FEED ME NOW MEOW. Ah, the joys of having 2 kids. LOL.
