1-2-3 Tortillas!

Tortillas at Last!

I wanted to make tostadas for dinner this week but when I was at Safeway I couldn’t find the tortilla section for the life of me! I am so used to the Safeway by my old gym in North Salinas that everything is backwards and twisted around in the Creekbridge Safeway. I finally found it and I swear there was bright light shining behind it and angels singing. Its so massive!

Butters’ Ultimate Toy

Hunting in the Laundry Basket

Butters is totally obsessed over this mouse toy. Originally it was part of a “fishing” toy, but since he played with it so much the reeling mechanism kept breaking. Now we have attached the mouse and part of the fishing line to a helium balloon that I inherited from Patti. Butters likes to take the mouse in his mouth and jump right in to the laundry basket.

Rain Rain.. (Don’t) Go Away

Rain Today

After 80 degree weather earlier this winter month, FINALLY some rain showers! As I was leaving my garage for work this morning, I saw a neighborhood cat taking refuge on the hood of an SUV in a carport across the way. I went to grab my camera to snap a photo but when I came back he was gone! So here is just a photo of the rain…

Smiley Riley

Riley

Ken and Kathy got a dog today! She is a 3 month old Boston Terrier named Riley. She will spend most of the work day with us at the Schipper Design office, at least while she is a still a puppy.  She loves to chew on everything, take short naps on our laps, and run across the office with her toys. Riley is the most adorable little dog! I wish she would stay little forever.

Obama Inauguration

Obama Inauguration

After trying to watch the inauguration at work via a laggy and overloaded CNN.com (and facebook!) connection  Kathy finally gave in and let us watch the it live at her house (in HD!). I snapped this photo of the Monterey Herald newspaper while i was waiting for my turkey avocado sandwich at the Windmill Market. I guess newspaper covers don’t need any headlines anymore… as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

SFMOMA

SFMOMA, Top Floor

Today Schipper Design+ went to the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco where we sampled food from around the world. Among the endless aisles of vendors were a few of our clients, whom we stopped and visited too. After the show, we walked over to SFMOMA for some design inspiration. Out of the few photos I took there, this happened to be my favorite, and it wasn’t even of the artwork there. It is the a walkway on the top floor, with the sun and shadows coming in through the ceiling.

Bridal Show

Patti's Bouquet Ideas

Patti, Jackie, Todd and I went to a Bridal Show at the Monterey Conference Center today. Patti found a vendor, Flowerland, that had an example bouquet with the exact flowers she wants. The vendor also had a ton of bright green cymbidium orchids on display, and I asked the lady if there was a “season” for the bright green color, since the flower vendor for my wedding proclaimed they coudn’t get that color in April. She said that these flowers are available year round, and there is no reason why I shouldn’t have been able to get my green orchids! Hmmm……. Well on a more happy note, I will be Patti’s Matron of Honor at her upcoming wedding (date tbd).

Business of the Year

Schipper Design Service Business of the Year

Schipper Design+ was awarded Service Business of the Year for San Benito County, 2009. This award is given by the San Benito Chamber of Commerce. Tonight’s awards dinner was held at San Juan Oaks with the theme “Cruising into 2009”. Kathy accepted the award(s) which included a glass plaque pictured here and two other wooden wall plaques.

Max Studio, Oh How I Love Thee

Max Studio, oh how i love thee

Today I went shopping for a new dress, since tomorrow is the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce Awards dinner. I knew i wanted to go to Max Studio and hoped i could find something…. well…. I found 3 dresses (and some other things). They were all about $100 each! Way too much money…. but I liked all of them, and couldn’t decide which one to get. I told myself i could buy two (no logical reasoning for that really.. just decided), and this photo honors the dress i could not buy. The other two black dresses behind it made the trip home with me.
