Carpooling
Since my Corolla was in the shop today, I needed a ride to work. Luckily Jeff works in Gilroy on Tuesdays so he was able to take me no problem. His Subaru hit 100,000 miles on this trip. This photo is of us coming back to Salinas on the 101. I inadvertently caught Jeff mid hiccup! Can you tell?
“Smart” Car
Immediately after the parking lot fiasco, my car started acting really funky. The check engine light was on and the car sounded like it was trying to switch gears, but then that would stop and the car would just coast. So I called AAA and had my car towed to the dealership. Turns out the computer in my car malfunctioned and was making the car do weird things, so they just reset it. I told you, my car is too damn smart for its own good!!
Superbowl XLIII Cake
While cleaning out the kitchen cabinets yesterday I decided I needed to use up the cake mix and frosting I had stockpiled. Then I realized i could make a football field cake for Superbowl! The cake is actually strawberry flavored – so the inside is pink. The yellow frosting turned out funky since it was the only frosting I had to make — the other frostings were store bought. But I am most impressed with my NFL logo recreation!
Organizing the Kitchen Cabinets
Every few months I find it necessary to reorganize the kitchen cabinets. I throw things out that are way old, dust away all the onion skins that find their way into the corners, and make sure everything has it’s place. While i was on my second shelf, Butters couldn’t resist hoping up in the empty space! Then he tried to navigate to the next shelf over, but he couldn’t successfully execute that maneuver.
Rooster Romping
I didn’t realize roosters could fly up on fences!
My Second Home
Gold Gym is my second home! I spend at least 5 hours a week here, but usually more…. Recently the parking situation has gotten pretty bad. Group exercise classes are PACKED so you have to make sure you are there early to get a spot.
Wednesday Night – LOST!
Patti and Chris came over again this week for the second week episode of LOST! They brought the burgers and we provided the fixings!
Cold Mornings
Pretty cold in the mornings.
Kitty Necklace
I bought this quirky cat necklace from Uncommon Goods – one of my favorite web stores for gifts!
Turbo Kick Certification
I took my Turbo Kick certification class today from 8am-6pm. The certification was held at the YMCA in Salinas by one of my TKB instructors Linda. It was a fun day, considering how long it was and I learned quite a lot. There were a few lectures, we practiced Round 35, got tested on our punches and kicks, and took a written test. I think I did pretty well, but I will find out officially in 4-6 weeks. Once I get certified, and obtain my CPR certification, I can begin teaching TKB classes. Well, that is if i can actually instruct the whole class! I need a lot of practice before that can happen.
