The chandelier in our new house is weird but cool. And makes interesting shadows on the popcorn ceiling!
Fireplace Kitties
The old owner left her kitties in the fireplace! It is ok though they are made out of metal. Not sure if Butters noticed them yet. His favorite spot in the new house is the dining room.
Couch Shopping
While we were moving our couch, somehow the coils got messed up so we decided to go furniture shopping. It being Labor Day, we figured there might be some good sales out there. We went to Furniture Expo down the road off South Main Street and tried out a few couches… some had potential, but the couch in this photo was the winning one! It had style, it had comfort, it has a CHAISE! I know, so 2000s you may say… but oh well, that is how it goes. The reason we like this though is that we can always get rid of the chaise since we bought a regular cushion top. We’ll get this delivered to our house in about month.
Organizing the Kitchen
Organized the kitchen today! It took a day and half, but not too bad. I didn’t think i would have room for everything, but at the end of the day, there was “a place for everything and everything in its place.”
Moving Day
Today is the day! We’re moving out of Los Olivos and onto La Jolla. Roger, Carrie and Charlie came over and helped us move all our big furniture over to the new house. We took two trips with the Uhaul, and countless trips back and forth in our cars during the week.
Butters’ Perch
Tonight is our last night in the house. I thought i’d snap a photo of Butters in his favorite part of the house – in the second bedroom, on top my back pillow, looking out the window. He usually spent all morning there looking at the grass and birds. I know he will miss this spot a lot since we don’t have an upstairs at the new house.
Cheap Washer / Dryer
We put our 2 yr old washer and dryer on craigslist for $200! We disclosed the fact that the washer pretty much sucks because it gets stuck on the rinse cycle and you have to advance it yourself. A woman actually contacted us the next day wanting it since said had the same model previously. Ironically she had the same problem as us and was glad to know she wasn’t the only one! Same here lady!! We are glad to finally get rid of the stupid thing! Least it served its purpose.
Wire Shelf at Costco
Saw this at Costco, thought it might look good and be quite functional in our garage. Didn’t get it though, but took a pic to remember the look and price!
Butters Loves Boxes
Butters is having the time of his life right now – so many boxes everywhere and everything moves every day. He is always finding a new spot to hang out in – like this one straddling the end table and alienware box. Somehow he always manages to sit right by the remote too.
Clean Blue Carpets
Today Jeff had to take a vacation day to stay at the house from “8am – 5pm” to meet the PG&E guy to restart our gas. It was turned off so they could fumigate the house. I told him he should clean up the kitchen and vacuum and mop the floors! I made him a sack lunch so he wouldn’t have to leave. We also scheduled carpet cleaners to come and steam the carpets, which worked out well because it came really clean! Nice blue carpets! Not sure how i feel about the color but could be worse. In our mailbox today was a nice card from Jeff’s parents congratulating us on our new home.
