Visit with McGirrs

Peggy, Diane, Jeff, John

Started off the morning today by having breakfast with Peggy’s family and Jeff’s Uncle John. His son just had a baby a week ago so he is a new grandfather!

After breakfast Jeff and I drove past his old house in Delaware. Jeff snapped this photo of this bridge behind his house which he remembers playing in.

Played with Julian for a bit, even got to feed him his bottle. Megan had to work ALL weekend. Julian is such a cute baby OHHHHH….!! And they have a old cat named Kenny who was just adorable but had matted fur all over.

Here are some photos of Peggy’s house – such a lovely property. I love how Pennsylvania has a lot of green trees and open lots of land.

City of Brotherly Love

City of Brotherly Love

We have planned to spend all of today in Philadelphia. Our plane landed at around 7am and we rented a car from Hertz (of course it was a Kia), and went straight over to Pat’s Kind of Steaks for a philly cheesesteak.

We were kinda disappointed from the sandwiches – apparently you need to get it with cheez-wiz for it to be really tasty but Jeff thought that was gross and got provolone cheese instead, which they didn’t even melt! Psh!!

We went to see the old courthouse where they argued over the declaration on independence and the articles of confederation. Also took a stroll past the Liberty Bell and Benjamin Franklin’s privy hole (where he pooped)!

Took a long walk over to the Franklin Institute and had fun playing with the interactive displays on hearts, physics, and sports to name a few. Fell asleep in the planetarium show because we took the red eye out and didn’t get much sleep.

Peggy made reservations for us at this restaurant on a boat called Mosholu. I forgot to take more photos, but Tom, Tim, Megan, Allie and her boyfriend Brandon made it to dinner with us. Very good food, but the service was kinda hoity-toity. 😉

Drove back to Peggy’s house with Megan in our rental car.. got lost using the GPS a few times but Jeff got to see a lot of things he remembered from growing up here like Wawas and Happy Harrys. We crashed out pretty much as soon as we got home since it was about 11 by this time. An eventful day!

SFO, time to GO

Waiting at SFO terminal

My parents left early this morning to go back to Hawaii. They flew out of SFO. We are leaving tonight for Philadelphia/NYC tonight from the same airport. 9 day vacation!!! Butters will be lonely, but Roger and Carrie will take good care of them.

Here are the flowers i ordered for Jeff. I hadn’t planned on getting him any since we would be leaving on the trip soon after his birthday, but i got a special e-coupon though Swenson and Sillaci so I figured, “minus” well… when they arrived though it was all buds, no flowers. So my mom opened them up today, to peek at them.

Jeff is Now Thirty

Jeff's 30th Birthday Cupcake

Jeff turned 30 today! I ordered some flowers for him, got him a few presents and made him a card. My mom, dad, and friend Tehani went out to dinner at Sapporo restaurant on the wharf. Mom and I made him devils food cupcakes from my Martha Stewart cupcake cookbook, and i decorated them with New York Yankees.

Furniture Shopping

Bedroom Set

My parents are in town and have graciously offered to get us new furniture  (i.e., non-garage sale, non-ikea, non-apartment-cheap-o-crap) for our house! Jeff decided to stay home and watch football and leave the shopping to Mom, me, and my Dad. Good call Jeff! I know he would have gone bonkers, the couch shopping last week was already too much for him (i took way too long to decide on throw pillows apparently!). The furniture extravaganza was very successful. We purchased a dining table with 6 chairs, a coffee table, an end table, a bedroom dresser and chest, two bedroom end tables, and a tv stand all for $5000. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Garage Sale

Garage Sale

The Los Olivos Village was holding a community garage sale this weekend which worked PERFECTLY for us! We put a bunch of our crap in a pile in the second bedroom and deemed it “garage sale” stuff. We priced everything really low, and it sort of created a frenzy i would say. Well, i have nothing to base it off of, but i thought it was pretty crazy at from around 8am-9am! We made $250+!

Corvette

Corvette

We went to Ninja Sushi today to wish our intern John good luck at his final year in college. I got to ride with Theresa in her 1980s Corvette. I was impressed with the technology in the car – the dash was all electrical light bar meters.

Saimin

Saimin Ohana Pack

Mom and Dad arrived tonight and of course they hand carried some S&S saimin for me!
