Under a Sea of Clouds
Poofy clouds caught my eye on the drive into work this morning.
Garage: Mission Complete
Today Jeff and I finally tackled the garage and got it all organized. It has been bugging me everyday since we’ve moved in (i park in the garage). I was determined to get things put away or thrown out, with or without Jeff’s help. That boy really makes me laugh. We were barely getting started with cleaning it out when all of sudden he stops what he is doing and says “it can’t be done, i give up” or something in that regards. He was so overwhelmed with the mess he couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel! But i rationed with him and helped him through by giving him small tasks, telling him to put “like items together”. At the end of the day, we took a step back and relished in our good teamwork. A place for everything and everything in its place.

Apple Tree
Jeff and I went to Kyle’s 30th birthday party today. Bonnie wasn’t there because her grandfather was getting an military service award down south. There was a keg but probably not enough people to drink the keg… I made some sushi and everyone loved it. Talked with Kyle’s parents for a long while about Hawaii, and New York.
I never noticed the first couple times i have been at Kyle and Bonnie’s place that they had apple trees in the backyard. They were filled with ripe apples! I never got a chance to try one but i wanted to. Hopefully we can get one in our yard so we can have apples and oranges!
Clam Chowder in a Mug
Kathy and I met with the owner of Old Fisherman’s Grotto at his restuarant on Fisherman’s Wharf today. We might be redesigning their web site. At the end of our meeting Chris offered us lunch, and Kathy and I decided to take it to go for the other girls in the office. We ordered 3 refreshing salads and 2 orders of clam chowder. Ironically, we used a mug that had a mock-up of OFG’s new mug design wrapped up on it to eat from. So here it is.
Architect’s Drawings
We received the architect’s plans for the work that needs to be done to permit our sunroom in the mail today. Looks complicated. From what i understand, new foundation, perhaps some other work. I can’t tell. Can you help me figure it out Butters?
Butternut Squash Soup
So i tried saving the soup! After yesterday we put it in the fridge, then this morning turned it on the crockpot. Today the power worked fine, and here is the result after 8+ hours of cooking and a little help from the immersion blender.
Power Outage?
I wanted to make Butternut squash soup today, but when i came home, it was not cooked! The electrical outlet needed to be reset – perhaps a power surge tripped it up and caused it to go out. We’ve had a storm come through today and many towns around here lost power.
$500 in Groceries
When we bought our furniture, Ashley’s was doing a promotion where if you spend over $1000 you get $500 back in groceries. You pick a grocery store, apply online, send in your receipts, and they give you back a $25 gift card every time you spend $100. Not too bad of a deal, but it is a lot of work considering, and one major issue for us that i read in the fine-print was that you need a state issued ID that matches you current address in order to participate. Well.. since we just moved, we don’t have that. And you can’t just go to the DMV and get your address changed. To change your address they tell you to “write it on the back of your card”. Ugh.. so now what?
Studying Textbooks
On November 7th, i will be trying to get my Group Exercise Certification from Aerobic Fitness Association of America. I have tried to get this certification in 2004 – but failed the written test. The practical part that i passed the first time was easy. It conists of demonstrating the ability to work the various muscle groups, instruct the class from warm-up to cardio to cooldown, and teach a specific exercise with modifications for beginner and advanced level. This time around, i am going to READ the book, before taking the test, and hopefully i will pass! I think will be very much more prepared this time. Wish me luck!
Condor Classic 2009
Jeff and I volunteered again this year at the 2nd annual Condor Classic Bicycle Ride, coordinated by my boss Kathy Schipper. We were at the Granite Rock pit stop. This guy pictured here dropped his sunglasses in the porta-potty! AND! Wanted to get them back so he used a trash bag as a glove to get it. Gross huh!
