Stock Photos, very Stocking
I was shopping at Target and the photo on this digital photo frame box caught my eye. It looked really familiar, like a stock photo i’ve used at work. Turns out it isn’t the same photo… but is really similar. Little girl blowing dandelions with the blue sky. It has happened to me before though – I’ll be shopping somewhere and i’ll see a stock photo i’ve used at work, and it kinda freaks me out. It shouldn’t, since it is STOCK, but yeah.
Puzzling
Yesterday evening, after being inside the house all day in front of our computers, Jeff pulled out the blue tin puzzle he got me for my birthday last year so we could have some RL (real life) stimulation. We wanted to stay up late to finish it, but decided we would be too grumpy the next morning for work if we did that. We got all the “easy” parts done, and tonight, we had the “hard” parts to finish. Trees, road, and sky, mostly. What is it about puzzles that is so addicting?
A Spot for Butters
Jeff used to have a big huge CRT monitor that fit perfectly at the corner of his desk. Earlier this year he bought a nice thin LCD monitor – giving him all this empty and virtually useless space behind it. Well, Butters doesn’t think its quite so useless. He likes to hang out there every so often. Sometimes he even purr-meows and Jeff thinks the sound is coming from his EQ2 game. Butters is so stealth, even with his limpy paw.
Wii Like to Party
Renee, Wayne, Hunter and Patti came over tonight for dinner and some Wii. I made Hoisin Chicken (not poison chicken!), jasmine rice, stir fried vegetables and crab rangoons. Hunter loved playing the Wii games — especially boxing. The night was very entertaining. Hey look we got a new rug from Target to make our house more presentable.
Pumpkin Mochi Time
Every year around Thanksgiving time I make a batch of Pumpkin Mochi. You know, since canned pumpkin is only available during the Fall. Kidding of course. Anyway, Here’s Jeff’s shot of me mixing up the wet ingredients. Its a lot of mixing, but other than that not very hard to make.
Dust, Fur and Hairballs
Since we’re having friends over on Saturday, I spent ALL night cleaning downstairs… dust, fur and hairballs everywhere! It sure did look clean afterward, we hardly recognized it. Butters didn’t seem to like the fact that i kept “following” him with the vacuum. It wasn’t intentional, though pretty funny. He’s giving me evil eyes in the picture!
Rita’s New Corolla
At noon today, Kathy proclaimed we should go out to sushi. I was on board right away and so was Angie! We kind of had to drag Briana to come since she doesn’t like/has never tried sushi. Since there was 5 of us, we couldn’t really fit in Kathy’s BMW convertible, so we decided Rita should drive us in her brand new 2009 Corolla!
We went to Ninja Sushi in Gilroy. Everyone enjoyed the lunch except Briana. She decided to eat the most fishiest tasting sushi for her first sushi experience (raw scallop and fish eggs). So, needless to say, I don’t think she’ll be doing that with us again.
Lucky Fruit Snacks
I always buy a really big container of Brach’s Tree Top Fruit Snacks from Costco. There are a bunch of different flavors/shapes in each pouch – Strawberry, Cherry, Grape, Apple, and Mixed Berry. I was just telling Jeff a few days ago that my favorite flavor was the Orange because it tasted so real, and I liked the round shape. I also compained that there are sometimes NO orange flavors in a pouch. Well today at work, I opened up my fruit snacks and sitting in there were 5 ORANGE FRUIT SNACKS. I was like HOLY COW! So I emailed Jeff at work to let him know how lucky my day was. I proceeded to eat them, while working away at my computer. He emails me back and tells me I should take a photo for 365. DUH! But by then I had already eaten 3 of them and all the rest of the over flavors. So here’s whats left of my lucky fruit snack pouch.
Finished Reading “The Glass Castle”
I finished reading “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls today. It’s an interesting autobiography about a girl who grew up in a poor family, with a drunk for a dad and a mom who didn’t want the responsiblity of kids. Though at times I felt so sorry for the circumstances at which Jeannette had to live, I never really felt any animosity towards the parents. Hard to explain — i guess you’d have to read it to find out what i mean!
Butters slept at my feet as i spent a couple hours finishing up the book tonight. He also has recently taken a liking to sitting in my computer chair while i’m away… or even while i’m still sitting in it.
Mini Golf
We met up with Taylor, Nate and Sofia at Malibu Grand Prix in Redwood City for some Mini Golf. This weekend was unseasonably hot, so needless to say it was a little busy. But we had a good time. Sofia was really cute, chasing after our balls and taking peoples clubs and running away with them. I don’t think we determined who actually won at the end of the round, but i should mention that i scored a hole in one!
