Cabbage Shortage
St. Patricks Day sure snuck up on me! I forgot to go to the store and buy the corned beef so we could have a traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner tonight. I am pretty bummed because i love corned beef (usually make it in the slow cooker) and don’t want to disappoint the live-in Irish fellow. Today after the gym i went to the store so i could just make it another day this week, but the cabbage was sold out!
Remember this Puzzle?
Skipped the gym tonight and went to Barnes and Noble to get a birthday gift for Jeff’s Dad. Spent some time looking at other books as well since we don’t have a bookstore in Salinas (so sad!). I came across this red apple 3d puzzle and instantly remembered it from when I was growing up and my sister Susan got it as a Christmas present one year. I remember everyone saying she was so brilliant for figuring it out. But she was always the “brilliant” one. Its funny that they still sell these and that i will forever associate this apple with Susan.
California Mania Registration
Spent a good 4 hours yesterday trying to figure out my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for the upcoming California Mania fitness convention in San Francisco. This is the first convention i will be going to since i started getting into teaching last January. I am focusing my classes on Step and Boot Camp-type classes. The 3-day convention is April 9th-11th so I have to take Friday off from work. I am way excited to go! Not sure what to expect but i am sure i will be pooped after 3 full day of classes.
Trimming the Hedges
Jeff is slowly but surely trimming the hedges with our new cordless electric hedge trimmer. Emphasis on slowly. LOL! Just kidding. He cut one bush last week, a couple of bushes yesterday, and then finished them off this the afternoon. He is a fan of taking “breaks” but he gets the job done! (photo taken at 50% completion)
Midnight McDonalds
Jeff and I have been wanting to eat chocolate chip cookies for a few nights in a row now and tonight the conversation went from craving these cookies we were too lazy to make (even though we had all the ingredients on hand) to wishing we could buy pie from the Bakers Square that was no longer in existence, to buying a couple apple pies from McDonalds. Jeff makes the run out to the drive-thru and comes back with this plethora of fast food. He said there was a problem — only 1 apple pie left! So he bought… french fries, two sundaes, cinnamelts,… oh and that last apple pie.
And this is why i have to workout so much! BTW – Cinnamelts, DELISH!!!
Li Hing Mui Candy
One of my favorite candies from back home is this Li Hing Mui (or Ume) Candy. It consists of a dried salted plum encased in a simple sugar hard candy. Such a satisfying combo of sweet-salty. Perfection! Gotta be careful not to swallow the seed in the middle though.
Tax Paperwork
Searching for the lost 2008 tax papers. Who knew you needed them the next year? Well i guess Jeff did. We can’t find them tho! Uh oh! We could find mine from 2005, 2006, 2007,…but where is 2008?
Honey Butter
Srsly? But it’s sooo good.
Cord Jungle
In our living room we’ve got our cord outlets coming form the floor. Here are chargers for Jeff’s phone, my phone, my camera, and… you guessed it — the new cordless hedge trimmer plug! (Ok you probably didnt guess that part)
Rainbow
See what i mean, rain, rain rain! Good thing about rain though is the rainbows. Rainbows make me miss Rainbow Brite. Remember her? I loved her outfits.
