Holiday Greetings from 2009
A sampling of some of the holiday cards & photos we received in the mail this year. We got quite a bunch! And, now that i took a photo i can throw them away! =) I remember my Grandma would (probably still does) keep every single card and photo she got from people over years in her piano bench. Jeesh, if i kept everything like this, where would those go? (We don’t have a piano, you know!) Thanks to digital storage, I’ll still have a little something to go back to if i want, without having to physically store these things.
Double Grill
Jeff bought me a double grill to use on our fancy double-burner stove! Works like a charm! We used it tonight to grill some chicken for enchiladas. But now… where to store this thing…..?
Christmas Day 2009
Jeff and I had Christmas Dinner with Torie and her family in Marina. I brought over some Pumpkin Mochi. After dinner we exchanged gifts. I gave Torie and Orlando their very own blog. Torie knows my obsession with ketchup… so she gave me an industrial sized can. I said I would keep it on my shelf for emergencies only!
Here is the gang, Xofi and I, Amy, Torie, Orlando and Victor (Torie’s Dad).
Bud
I can never remember flower names, but this guy is the one that shoots up really fast? Starts with an “A”. Anyway, its keeping me company at work while the rest of the office is on vacation. Grow little guy, grow!
Butters Turns 2 (or 7..ish?)
Butters had a… shall i say… FULFILLING adoptiversary celebration with us tonight. Marking his 2nd year with us McGirr’s, we decided to treat him to some cooked broccoli (he really likes it) and a sprinkling of bacon on top leftover from our Zuppa Tuscana Soup dinner (Olive Garden-inspired). Before we had a chance to give him his treat, Jeff caught him on the kitchen counter finishing up half a package of cooked bacon… about 8 slices we reckoned. Kitties can’t eat that much bacon can they?!?! Well Butters did… and he didn’t seem to have much side effects besides a full tummy and non-stop licking his chops and paws for a good half hour after the incident. Nevertheless, we continued giving him his presents – a new toy and cat food dish. What a spoiled kitty he is!
Holiday Lightshow
For the Schipper Design holiday party we went to Ninja Sushi, ate some dinner, and exchange Secret Santa gifts. I gave Rita a yoga mat bag, and Theresa gave me a bunch of cupcake decorating tips and a book (love!). Then we went over to Gilroy Gardens to see the lights, ride the rides, and watch the fireworks and lightshow. Trippy.
Foreign Email
Email i received at work today (hope none of this was confidential…). I think this is Arabic? It is weird to see things written right to left and then with some English thrown in there. I was working with a company based in Israel for a web application that involves heart rate monitoring.
Huston’s at our House
Renee, Wayne, and Hunter came over to our house for dinner tonight to catch up and see our new house. It’s been a while since Renee and I chatted so it was nice to see her an her family. I made some Kalua Pig and Cabbage with Macaroni Salad, and some Spritz cookies for dessert. I gave Renee a wooden vase i found in Chinatown during my stay in San Francisco.
Pinnacle Bank Holiday Party
At Pinnacle Bank’s holiday party at San Juan Oaks. Brings back good memories to be here once again. There was a raffle drawing and someone named “Diane” won one of them – but there are 2 Dianes and 1 Diana and that caused some confusion… I didn’t get the prize! Guess we will never know who was “supposed” to get it.
GD USA Awards
Two of the many awards we won made it into the Graphic Design USA magazine (you had to pay $$ to get them placed). Above is the web site i designed for Shakespeare Santa Cruz.
