iPad aka iPhone Really Large Minus Telephone
Kathy bought an iPad fpr Schipper Design so she could show web sites, artwork, and proofs to clients. Its pretty much exactly like an iPhone except ultra-big. But still neat-o! And impresses the clients for sure. We had a meeting today at Natividad Medical Center. I’m working on their web site(s), and we also do a lot of print work and campaigns for the hospital as well.
American Pie Graph
Got an email from a client based in Switzerland and apparently people around the world refer to graphs by different names. What would you call this graph? A pie graph? How about… cheesecake graph? Mmm…! Well i guess “pie” is a pretty American way to look at it. May be more cheesecakes in Switzerland?
Pickle Jar
Yum! Love me some pickles. Claussen is the BEST brand – sold in the fridge section. No other can compare!! I have a client with a very similar last name, and i can’t stop thinking of pickles every time i see an email come in from him. I probably buy a jar of pickles every two weeks or so. Wish i could buy in bulk at Costco, but they don’t carry this brand.
Hear the Bird?
Can you take a picture of a sound? In this case, no. For the past few nights, we’ve been hearing this one bird sing and sing and sing. Um, hello, aren’t you supposed to wake us up in the morning, not keep us from going to bed? Its so random the way he chirps too. All kinds of different calls, not just one or two. Annoying yet entertaining at the same time.
Freezer Snap
The freezer ends up being a dumping ground for unwanted fridge foods. Or a graveyard for freezer foods forgotten. Its fun to take a snapshot every now and again and see what once lived there.
Turtle Bay Taqueria
Jeff and I decided to go out to dinner tonight to Sapporo in Monterey. Well…. we didn’t know tonight was PROM night so it was super packed with dressed up high-schoolers. So we left that place and tried Bubba Gumps but that had a wait of forever and a day, so we ended up at Turtle Bay Taqueria where we met this nice little fella. He liked the spicy salsa.
He is so cute!
Flower Path
Love the pretty flower path i got the chance to walk through on my way back to my car after a meeting at Natividad Medical Center. Sometimes its the little things in life that make you smile real big.
Driving in SJB
Had to go to the store today in my little work town of San Juan Bautista. (Yes- i drove! Oh boy, coulda walked but my time is too precious). Guess who crossed the road! A chicken. But he’s not using the crosswalk. Usually they’re pretty good about that kinda stuff.
Rita’s Carribbean Birthday
Today’s Rita’s 26th birthday celebration at Schipper. Theresa ordered some fun hats for the Carribbean themed celebration.
The day started off with breakfast of champions – Creme Brulees in a chocolate cup courtesy of Lara (she had to leave early). OMG these things are from Trader Joes and they are SO BOMB but also found out they have lke 78% of your saturated fat value… anyway! Onto the birthday.
We headed on over the Kathy’s house for lunch since we all had brought a bunch of food and need the oven to heat stuff up. Theresa (bartender/project manager) made us some all fruit smoothies and coconut shrimp.
I was gonna make some Carribbean rice, but then handed that job off the Angie. Everything turned out really great. Kathy made a salad, Corby made some chicken skewers and some tropical salsa.
Dining at Kathy’s (bad photo lighting here!) Rita’s desk was decorated with fish and nets.
Pina Colada Cupcakes
Time to make some cupcakes for Rita’s birthday. I decided to go with a box mix this time because 1) they are easy; 2) they are so moist and yummy; and 3) no one can tell the difference! Of course i added some stuff to it to jazz it up. See below for recipe.
Pina Colada Cupcakes
1 box white cake mix
1 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup coconut rum
eggs (according to package)
vegetable oil (according to package)
8 oz. can crushed pineapple in juice, drained wel
1/2 cup shredded, sweetened coconut
Directions: Add mix, eggs, and oil according to the package. Substitute water for 1 cup pineapple juice and 1/3 cup coconut rum. Blend well with electric mixer. Add pineapple. Make sure it was well-drained and mix until just blended. Fold in coconut. Bake according to the package instructions.
Yum RUM and COCONUTZ!
Colorful (non pastel!) cupcake liners from Save-Mart. The naked cupcakes come out of the oven.
Time to decorate! Toasted coconut for the “sand”, goldfish crackers (colored and graham/smores flavor) for the fishies, frosting for the ocean and seaweed, and sprinkles for the bubbles.
The next morning i did a little photoshoot with them on the beach blanket in the sunroom.
