Lawnmower Monday
We have a regular lawnmower guy come every couple weeks to mow our lawn since we 1) don’t have a lawn mowing machine and 2) are lazy to do it ourselves. Usually we never see the guy because we’re working during the day but every so often on those Mondays off we get to see him. Guess he works holidays! But he doesn’t get paid time and a half. Jose gets a monthly stipend of $55 from us… in case you were wondering. The lady who owned this house previously used him and we just continued on with the service.
Valentine’s Day 2010
Jeff and I didn’t make any real plans for Valentine’s Day… briefly talked about going out of town for the long weekend but ultimely decided to chill out at home. We’re both home-bodies anyway so we didn’t mind. We agreed not to get each other anything, but i did want to do something special for him.
I made him a scavenger hunt with bunches of Sweetarts hidden amongst the house. The first clue started by his clock with a homemade card. Each clue led to the next one, and each clue had one letter on it highlighted. Each letter was part of a word jumble that spelt out his present at the final location. It was PRETZELS! I got him a little package of chocolate-covered pretzels. Jeff liked it a lot and was sad he didn’t get me anything but he did pick me some flowers from the garden and used our new vases that we got from his Aunt Jacqueline for a housewarming gift.
After hanging out a bit, we made homemade pesto chicken sandwiches. They were so yummy and simple to make. Wrapped them up in foil and took them to the beach.
The sunset at Marina State Beach was beautiful. I miss being able to take a short jog there – which is what i used to do when i lived in an apartment not far from there. The waves were rockin’ but didn’t see any surfers. Jeff and I had a great relaxing day and it feels so good to know we didnt have to go to work the next day!
Gym Graphics
New art was applied to the walls in the group exercise room this week. Obviously this room is geared towards girls! Haha… i think they look nice. Very Valentine appropriate in fact. But i’m sure these will hang around more permanently.
Surprise Visit from Dad
Jeff’ dad came for a last-minute visit because he got stranded at the San Francisco Airport on his way to see Pat. It was a nice surprise to have him come and spend the night and see our house for the first time. We took him out (well rather, he treated us,.. thanks!) to Monterey Coast Brewery for dinner, and we went back to the house to watch the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics in Vancouver.
Gray Kitty – Now Known as Henry
Gray kitty has been dubbed “Henry” and has been hanging out in the new Schipper office….he comes meowing every morning and Theresa lets him in. He likes to get pets and bother us on our desks, even likes to drink water from the mug. Sometimes he puts his paw in it then licks from his paw. What a silly boy.
Snowmaggedon! 2!!!!!
National news media coverage is funny. Snowmaggedon… 2…!! Its like a movie!! But its REAL LIFE, ZOMG. Take THAT global warming!
Heat My Space, Please
The new office is considerably colder than the old office. Thank you old and trusty space heater for saving my freezing feet. It’s been a while since i’ve needed you… actually its been since we were in the very first place that i’ve needed you. Must be this “side” of the building.. no direct sunlight.
Rooster Walking
Took a walk to a meeting with one of our local clients in San Juan Bautista. Happened upon a rooster, whadya know?
Superbowl Party
Part 2 of 2 “Housewarming” parties is Jeff’s Superbowl Party! Saints vs. Colts in Miami Florida. I made a bunch of food, as usual, and we played some gambling games. Traditional “squares” based on the end of quarter scores and Commercial Bingo where you cross-out things you see in the commercials on your play board.
Party-goers watching commercials for a bingo win. Jeff filling out the squares.

New Workstation
Moved offices today – we’re expanding into the next office building so Kathy can have her own “office” and the New Media guy we hired, Corby, can have his own workstation too. I also lowered my desk so its now officially ergonomically correct for my short height – so now it is a lot lower than the other tables and i feel like i am in the handicapped spot in the room!
