A New Comforter
Scored a new comforter from Pottery Barn.. on sale! I think it was only about $150 for a king size cotton and silk comforter. Jeff and I were getting fed up with the down shifting comforter… the feathers would gang up on one side then we’d be left with just the duvet sheet. This one is a bit too big (we have a queen) but got the king on the advice of the sales girl. Probably should have just stuck with the queen, but its better than shivering at night.
Wild Thyme Lunch
Susan helped me arrange my closet with her retail folding skillz! I should have taken a before and after photo. I had a crazy contraption with safety pins and extra wire panels. It was insane! I’d get poked with the pins and it wasn’t pleasant so they had to go. Now it looks like my closet is a store itself. Where are my rumpled piles! (Thanks Sue!)

Clam Cousins
Called up my long-lost cousin Stefanie since my sister was in town so that we could all hang out. Decided to go to the aquarium since my sister has never been. I told them about the male seahorse having the babies. They were enamored. My favorite part of the trip this time was watching the otters eat their lunch, and watching the psycho penguins swim back and forth in their little tank.
Anthropologie – New Fave Store
Susan came to visit us for an impromptu visit from Hawaii. A friend of hers had a 80% off flight ticket, and didn’t want it to go to waste. She’s here for the weekend.
Today I worked half day then picked Sue up and went to Carmel. We ate a late lunch at a french restaurant which i cant say nor remember how to spell. We both had a French Onion soup and salad, and really wanted dessert but decided to come back later and never did. Our main reason for going to shop at Anthropologie, one of her favorite stores that they don’t have in Hawaii.
After many hours and many dollars spent, we went back to our car and hoped i didnt get a ticket for parking over the 2 hour limit. We were safe! Went to Ann Taylor Loft where we shopped some more with her 50% of employee discount… I went to get my ring checked for warranty and then a stone fell out in the autoclave… got it fixed.
Ordered some Pizza My Heart (to go) for dinner and Jeff was as happy as can be (that he didnt go shopping for hours, and that i gave him his favorite pizza!)
Ah, love shopping, love my sis!!
Hawaiia Food Delivery! (Susan is Here!)
My sister is here for an extended weekend. She is visiting from Hawaii because her friend had a coupon for a check airline ticket which he had to use before it was expiring and luckily was transferable. Yay! She brought me arare, kalua pig, senbei, cookies, sweetbread, and crackseed candy.
Tico’s Tacos
Tico’s Tacos Mexican Food To Go! (For dinner tonight) Saw our old neighbor from our last condo, but he didn’t recognize us. Ordered nachos, sopas, and enchiladas. Overall rating… just ok. Better than Taco Bell i guess!
Hebbron
Left work early today to prep for a meeting tomorrow at SUBA in East (ghetto) Salinas. We re-designed their web site and i was presenting to their board the changes and the new Content Management System. I snapped this photo because i forgot to get off the right exit on the freeway and had to take some back-roads to get to where i was going. Luckily I was familiar with a few streets.. such as Hebbron. Brings back some not-so-great memories. My how life has changed — for the better.
Slow Cooker – Soup or Stew?
I threw together some vegetable barley soup in the slow cooker this morning, and then came back a bit surprised to find it more of a stew rather than a soup. Next time better to add the barley halfway perhaps? Just that i can’t do that since i dont get home until 7pm or later… still tasted good. Especially with the colored fishies.
Making Chocolate Chip Cookies
Late night craving for some cookies. Made a batch from the America’s Test Kitchen Family Cookbook. Of course they were super yummy… crisp on the edges but a nice chew in the middle, and real big and round. Mmm perfecto! Made a big batch, so i wrapped them individally in saran wrap and took some for each of my coworkers.
