Dharma Doll

Pink Dharma Doll

Jeff and I received a package today from Jill and Greg. Tucked inside the box and cushioned with a sea of newspapers was a pink Dharma Doll and a letter. They created this doll out of paper as a first year anniversary present. Jill wrote about the origins and customs of the Dharma doll as well as the meanings of the Kanji characters that Greg picked out to place on the side of the face. They made it by printing out a template from the Canon Paper Crafts web site and then cut, folded and glued until it came to be in this amazing intricate shape! So creative and thoughtful!

The doll has no eyes because you are supposed to place the left eye when you make a wish and then when the wish comes true, you are suppposed to fill in the other eye. Jeff and I haven’t made our wish yet…
